MPX Graphics Design Seminars

Maine Printing Company / MPX will be hosting free graphic support seminar sessions.  Each 3-hour session has been designed so that we can help attendees get the most out of their graphics projects.  From InDesign to Photoshop, attendees will learn how to package bulletproof print jobs.

1. InDesign for Production Professionals

• Monday, June 23rd
• Session Time:  9am-Noon

This session is a practical primer on how to get the most out of Adobe InDesign in a busy business graphics operation. Designed for novice and intermediate users who already know how to use InDesign and want to get the most out of it, this session emphasizes how to quickly and efficiently set up systems that work and get quality results.

2. Packaging Bulletproof Print Jobs

• Wednesday, June 25th
• Session Time:  9am-Noon

This session will focus on the intricacies of print jobs that cause big problems down the line.  Learning to fix these issues now will save time and effort later. This hands-on session deals with things that can go wrong, how to find them when they occur and how to fix them, focusing on powerful tools built into Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.

3. Photoshop for Print Production Professionals

• Friday, June 27th
• Session Time:  9am-Noon

This session is a practical, nuts n' bolts program on how to get quality printed results from your digital images. Emphasis is placed on consistent, repeatable techniques for getting good photo reproduction across a wide range of print processes.

These sessions will be taught by Randy Hagan, an accomplished trainer, consultant and publishing professional with more than 20 years of industry experience.  Randy is a certified Adobe expert who is also fluent in Quark and other graphics applications. 

Each session will be interactive so everyone who attends is encouraged to bring their laptops, graphics issues and questions!

Portland, Maine, March 5, 2008 - Maine Printing Company/MPX is the first Maine-based print solutions provider to achieve Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody Certification.

MPX has earned the FSC Chain-of-Custody Certification under the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Forest Conservation Program.  This certification allows MPX to provide its clients with print products that carry the FSC logo, ensuring that the fiber used to produce these products can be traced through the supply chain to an FSC-certified well-managed forest.

MPX is the first print solutions provider to obtain FSC Chain-of-Custody certification in the Northeast and one of the first in the United States.  This not only sets MPX apart from its competitors, but also strengthens its relationships with clients who place a high priority on environmentally sound practices. 

Demonstrating environmental leadership by supporting sound forest management is a priority for many of MPX’s clients.  In addition to the capability of passing on the FSC Chain-of-Custody claim on FSC certified materials, MPX has taken a leading role in working with clients to develop their own environmental initiatives and to implement their newly designed environmentally responsible corporate policies.
